Lawmaking

In a few, brief words, the law of conservation of energy states that the total amount of energy in our universe is definite, always has been and always will be. A solid set amount. In fact, renowned scientists, Rosenfeld, Huygens and Mayer among many others have backed this statement up which further proves its solidness. Setting this mini physics lesson aside, has the same concept of a certain “allotted amount” of knowledge, success, love or beauty ever been heard of? Ever heard of Einstein, Newton or even Archimedes at that put forth a law restricting the sum of these present in our lives.

To say it more straightforwardly, there is no quota of these things that exist in the cosmos. Someone else’s success does not in any way mean another individual is a failure. Someone else’s beauty does not make the person in question less than perfect. A magnificent level of intellect does not denote that a fellow peer is short of a marble. Ironically, it’s the other way around. The more knowledge one shares the more they gain. The more acceptable the world is to the different levels of success, unique to each person out there, the more sophisticated and advanced it would seem.

Despite there being no scientifically proven law, that is the way our world functions. How rare is it to find someone willing to extend a helping hand in fear of that persons’ attainments? How uncommon is it to find a fellow associate who will keenly share their knowledge without hesitation? How often will one come across somebody who so purely appreciates the beauty of someone rather than putting them down just to feel as if they themselves exist at a higher level?

It is hard to accept the fact that this mannerism is so normalized, hardly a soul out there would blink twice regarding it. We see and receive this treatment from almost everyone in our lives, from our family to friends to our co-workers and strangely enough even strangers we have never come across before. Many of us, in turn, dispel our emotions on others around ourselves and this loop of constant toxicity goes on and on.

To break this seemingly unbreakable norm, all we must do is be aware of what we say to any other person. To all the students out there who have, at the hands of those numerous laws of science, suffered endlessly, ask yourself this… would you really want to pull a Newton and build upon a law that will prove to be even more agonizing to your future generations than it is to us now? I should hope not.
