It's quarantine, and with it comes a new trend: Among Us. This murder-mystery game has taken over the internet and is currently one of the most popular games online! Among us was created on June 15, 2018, by a 3-person company named InnerSloth. It received unexpected popularity in 2020 when played by many well-known Twitch streamers and YouTubers. Currently, there have been up to 83 million downloads and it hit 3 million players on all platforms on September 29, 2020.

This multiplayer game takes place in a space-themed setting where each player takes on one of two roles: Crewmate or Impostor, wherein the number of Imposters are chosen prior to starting. In the beginning, you’re informed of whether you’re a Crewmate or an Imposter. The Crewmates’ primary goal is to finish all their tasks and avoiding the cold-blooded killers while simultaneously being vigilant of those acting suspiciously. On the other hand, the objective of the Imposter(s) is to deceive the rest of the crew and eliminate each member until they emerge victoriously.

Once a body is discovered by a crewmate, they'll immediately call a meeting. Here, all players will be allowed to discuss and, within a fixed time limit, must decide on who committed the deed. The Imposters will attempt to lead the crewmates in the opposite direction, convincing them that they are not the Imposter. If you're too defensive, however, you'll be perceived as suspicious and will consequently be voted out and ejected off the airlock.
As the game goes on, people get anxious and paranoia creeps in. Crewmates can use cameras to spy on one another, so the Imposters must be alert and observant to avoid being caught red-handed. Imposters are also capable of sneaking around in vents but must do so cautiously, for if seen by a crewmate, an emergency meeting will be called and the Imposter promptly expelled.

I’d give this game a 9.5/10. From manipulating and strategizing to teamwork and critical thinking, it’s got it all. This addictive murder-mystery game has taken freelancing youths by the storm and has given an outlet for those who strive for a small dose of serotonin in this hectic time that we are all going through right now.
P.S. These photos are fake- my friends and I are unskilled at this game.
