With a Metacritic metascore of 97 and a user score of 8.7, Red Dead Redemption II is an open-world RPG that can only be described as a masterpiece.

Set in the mainland of America in the late 18th century, Red Dead Redemption II puts you in the shoes of Arthur Morgan and his accomplices. Part of a gang named Van Der Linde, Morgan and fellow gang members find themselves fleeing amidst the snow after a robbery in the town of Blackwater does not go according to plan. Morgan and his mates then set out to find missing members who got lost in the snowy mountain range. Van Der Linde successfully relocate to a more favorable environment where you now continue your journey
There are many things to do, from robbing homesteads to running errands. The world feels alive and real, with animals roaming all over the mainland and rivers. The player can hunt animals for their pelts and meat. Meats can be cooked to restore the player’s cores, while pelts can be used for certain upgrades.
With a plethora of activities, the player may soon find himself up to no good. Simply pointing your gun at strangers can cause a fight. Should the player decide to take aggressive action, any bystanders will be appointed witnesses. If not, any corpses seen by NPCs (non-player characters) will be reported to the sheriffs. Thus, a bounty is placed on Morgan. It is up to the player to deal with situations as they see fit, bearing in mind that all actions have consequences.
The game employs an honor system, which serves as a reputation scale. Because Morgan is a hustler, there are going to be decisions that need to be made which test the player’s moral compass. For example, needless murder tarnishes Morgan’s reputation while more honorable deeds improve it.
All these regulations tie into how you may choose to play the game. It is truly mind-boggling how full the world feels.
The game’s campaign is lengthy, with an average playtime of 55 hours. However, if you wish to play the game to its fullest extent, you’ll find yourself investing over 150 hours into the incredibly massive and immersive world of Red Dead Redemption II.
All in all, Red Dead Redemption II is a must play for any gamer who hasn’t yet picked it up.
Good luck on your adventures!
